And Construction Stops…

 Plumbing Exposed

Everything was going so well last week!  The slab was being sliced and diced to create space for the additional plumbing.  The council was signing off on the newly installed plumbing, everything was going to plan – till we cut up some areas near the existing retaining walls only to discover – horror of horrors!  There doesn’t appear to be any real footings supporting them :( .

Which means for now everything on site has come to a grinding halt – eek!  Now we just have to sit tight and wait to see how much it will cost us to replace the retaining wall and the slab both (we also discovered at the same time that the slab is not as thick as it needs to be in crucial areas).  The joys of working with an existing building – why oh why it wasn’t done properly by the original owners/builders in the first place has everyone on site baffled!

I was hoping to have the exhibition and launch ‘expressions of interest’ up for those eager to exhibit this week and start a call out but with this delay (may mean an extra three weeks added to the schedule) it will now tip us over Xmas into the new year for the construction to be completed so a new opening date is on the cards.  Stay tuned as hopefully by the end of the week we will have engineers drawings, a new quote for the work and a new timeframe for completion.

This is an awful blow Jay Dee!
I wish you very well with all your efforts to resolve this as painlessly as possible….to the bank balance as well!

It as a funny thing in life and Art how winding the path can be to get for A to B. Another test of how much do you want this… those tests turn up!

It will make it extra special when it comes together!

Goodness me! Nothing ever goes according to plan does it. No matter what in life – cooking, building a house, taking a holiday…it always either takes longer than you and anticipated, or cost more that expected. Or both!

Thanks Sophie and Eleni! I appreciate your comments and yes, things you really want do usually end up being a trial to get or complete. This is something I really want though so I just need to persevere! xx
